FINNISH DJ and producer LUMI epitomises the nexus of cerebral and introspective techno.
Blending her Finnish heritage with the world of high fashion, LUMI's dark, ethereal visuals echo her artistic vision.
Recent performances alongside influential names like Pan-Pot, Marie Vaunt, Korolova, Tiga, Teenage Mutants, and Will Clarke underscore LUMI’s rising presence, as well as a debut release, Look The Other Way on esteemed techno label Octopus Records. In just 2 weeks, the songs transfixed the techno world, charting at #3 on Beatport’s Indie Dance charts and accumulating over 50,000 streams and 13 editorial playlists, including the cover of Amazon’s Breakthrough Electronic, Spotify’s New Music Friday Dance, Beats of Tomorrow, and Open Air, and an add to techno mainstay Anja Schneider’s track IDs.
From the vibrant European scene to the sun-soaked landscapes of LA, LUMI’s influence continued across international waters to her homeland, Finland, where she has made appearances on Finnish radio with Ronny Rex, as well as global radio plays with Aston Shuffle and Insomniac Radio.
Surpassing her debut, LUMI released the follow up EP, Glistening on Kneaded Pains to much critical acclaim, with features in DJ Mag US and Latin America, as well as premieres from Four Heads, T In Techno, and NUDE Techno. Beyond her prowess as a DJ, LUMI’s background in choir and piano manifests in her music, featuring her own vocals alongside captivating studio productions. As she continues to illuminate the world with her artistry, LUMI stands as a beacon in the evolving landscape of electronic music.
We caught up with the Seattle based artist this week and she has recorded an exclusive mix for The Night Bazaar Sessions which you can listen to below and view the track list. LUMI told us:
“This mix comprises music of my own that I currently have out and new music that I’ve recently finished in the studio. Two tracks of mine that are coming out on Turbo this month and next in this mix as well. I’m also excited about some of the records I’ve found crate digging for shows in LA and Berlin. Although different markets, there’s still overlap and I bring some of that overlap into this mix. I hope you enjoy it.”
