GERMAN techno artist Recondite aka Lorenz Brunner remains one of the most in demand live performers in electronic music.

At home on tastemaker labels such as Afterlife and Innervisions, the prolific producer returns to his own Plangent label with his seventh studio album, Taum which is out now.

Taum is another hugely personal album from Recondite, but one that finds him taking his signature sounds further than ever before with soft acid, hypnotic drums, smooth grooves and pensive chords meeting darker and edgier sounds reflecting his love of hip-hop and grime.

To mark the release of Taum, we caught up with Recondite to talk about some of his favourite tracks from his label Plangent Records.

Recondite – Robur (PLAN001)

This was the most prominent track on the first release on Plangent PLAN001. It was kind of a signature guideline for the label, and established a certain sound and vibe for the future.

Uchi – Pride Is Poison (PLAN006)

Deep dark and melancholic work by Uchi. An outstanding and memorable track 🙂

Roland Appel – Gonzo (PLAN0010)

A great deep dancefloor suitable piece by my good friend Roland. It was an honour to have him on the label.

Recondite – Tilia (PLAN003)

I still love to play this track in my sets from time to time. It has a very airy and uplifting dancefloor quality that always seems to work well.

Alex.Do – Discharge (PLAN007)

Soel – Classified Remote Detachment (PLAN008)

What a stomping, deep, yet still Plangenty sounding track! Soel is a super underrated artist in general in my opinion.

Recondite – Durch den Hohlweg (PLANLP001)

No doubt the leading track on my experimental downbeat classical album “Daemmerlicht” A very cinematic piece of work with which I connect many visual childhood memories from my home region.

Mind Against – LongBrightDark (PLANCOMP001)

Soothing and healing emotional techno by the two brothers and good friends of mine – Mind Against.

Alex Do – Rain (PLAN0011)

Rainy techno with a driving beat. Whenever I play one of my rare DJ sets, this is usually part of it.

Recondite – Naif (PLANLP002)

The first single of my upcoming album “Taum”. A different type of beat – but still 100% Plangent. I love to play this in my sets as either an opening or closing track, and it’s always a great moment.

Recondite’s new “Taum” LP is out now on Plangent Records. Grab it here.
