Love Muscles

Love Muscle XX not only provided the soundtrack to a generation of clubbing aficionados but became a weekly sanctuary for all across the country and visitors from afar! This ethos is recreated in the new Love Muscle XX events who can’t wait to throw open the doors on the Birthday event back where it all began in 1992! Love Muscle’s Simon Hill told us;

“With 90’s music now so popular it’s perfect for Love Muscle XX as the DJs delight the original crowd whilst exciting the scene’s younger clubbers. Love Muscle xx energy is infectious…in that the Go Go dancers were booked for 20 minute sets and Pawel the dance master had to literally drag them off stage after dancing for over 40 minutes as they loved the music so much!

Love Muscle XX was such an iconic and legendary club that broke all the rules just like Trade did in the 1990’s, attracting around 2,000 clubbers every week. It was a full-on production not just with the music but with host Yvette, Live Artists, Go Go dancers, door hosts and all these elements made Love Muscle XX such a brilliant party.”

Love Muscle XX is brought to you by ‘The Love Muscle xx Crew’, which includes original promoters Andrew Czezowski & Susan Carrington, legendary Hostess Mamma Yvette, original marketing manager Alan Davies,  Love Muscle XX resident DJ Dorian, and lifelong Love Muscler Simon Hill.

Simon and DJ Dorian have selected 20 tracks that arouse the Love Muscle faithful!

Klymax – I’ve Got A Feeling (Club Mix)

Topping our chart is the most anthemic, hands-in-the-air dance monster ever to grace Love Muscle xx’s turntables.  Sung live by vocalist Stacey Jay originally in 1996 and then again at our most recent event to an ecstatic crowd, a sea of smiling faces all singing along to the beat. Hugging a total stranger on the night in a cloud of ecstatic joy to ‘I’ve got a feeling I’m gonna be with you my whole life’ sums up the intensity of those euphoric meets on the dancefloor!

St. Etienne – He’s On The Phone (Motiv-8 Remix)

Motiv-8’s top contribution to our chart and probably one of the most requested tracks in Love Muscle XX’s history.  Pure singalong anthemic hi nrg dance

Hi-Lux – Feel It (Full On Mix)

Instantly recognisable from its classic chord stabs, this was one of the biggest club hits of the 90s, still guaranteed to whip the crowd into a frenzy

JX – Son Of A Gun

Huge top 10 hit that launched JX’s career.   A pure slice of simple but original dance

Tatjana – Santa Maria (Wey Hey Mix)

Vying for the top spot at the commercial end of the Love Muscle xx chart, this hugely anthemic track was a staple for years, and still comes top of many Love Musclers’ personal charts

Quartzlock – No Regrets (OPM Poppy Remix)

OPM’s biggest hit, this rip-roaring single made it into the national Top 40 off the back of this remix alone.  Probably had more remixes than any other Love Muscle xx track, this was an exclusive first at LM for months, with people queueing at the DJ box to find out what it was.

Motiv-8 featuring Jocelyn Brown – Riding On The Wings

Motiv-8’s third track as an artist, but one of Love Muscle’s favourites.  Loved in both its original form and the exclusive mix done by Marc Andrews.

Marmion – Schoneberg (Marmion Remix)

This one is a rarity, a banging slice of hard house straight out of the Trade Top 10 that also blew the roof off at The Fridge every week.

Motiv-8 – Rockin For Myself (Slammin’ Granite Remix)

Possibly the biggest remix outfit of the commercial dance scene, and certainly their biggest hit as an act in their own right.  Absolutely massive track from 1994 that made the UK Top 20.

Dana Dawson – Hold Me (Motiv-8 Remix)

Another top quality Motiv-8 remix, this hands-in-the-air singalong was the favourite of Love Muscle’s original main DJ, Marc Andrews.

Felix – Don’t You Want Me (Candy Girls Remix)

A tough remix from the Candy Girls in 1995 of the original Top 10 hit from 1992.  Chunky and fierce, a huge crowd favourite.

Ultra High – Stay With Me (Original Mix)

A true hands-in-the-air anthem, this blew the roof of the dance floor whenever it came on.  With the hugely powerful vocal hook, one to sing along to at the top of your lungs!

JX – You Belong To Me (JX & Red Jerry Mix)

Hot on the heels of Son Of A Gun, this was a faster, tougher remix courtesy of a collaboration between JX and the highly talented Red Jerry, famous for his harder Trade style tracks.

Amen – Passion (Wand Mix)

The sound that came to typify the chunky, pumping sound of 90s London clubland that would be heard everywhere from Love Muscle xx to Heaven, Sherbet to Trade and all the clubs in between. Signature cracking riff guaranteed to get the crowd screaming.

Tin Tin Out featuring Espiritu- Always (Tooley Street Mix)

The peak of 1995 dance, a truly classy club track that transcends time.

Kim Carnes – Bette Davies Eyes (OPM Club Remix)

Remix of the classic 80s track, re-imagined by OPM, aka Marc Andrews, Love Muscle’s original main DJ and his remix partner Donald Lynch

Alison Moyet – Whispering Your Name

Slowing things down, a real loved-up end-of-night anthem!  Time to hug everyone around you and finish the night off on a high.

Motiv-8 – Break The Chain (Uprageous Club Vocal)

Mainly known for their remixes, this was one of their biggest hits for Motiv-8 as an artist in their own right. Full on chunky bassline and one of the catchiest chorus lines makes this a first-class anthem.

O.T. Quartet – Hold That Sucker Down (Builds Like A Skyscraper)

An early hit from 1994, a collaboration between Rollo and Rob D, this was a huge hit across the club scene, going down equally well in Love Muscle xx as in harder clubs like Trade.

Candy Girls – Wham Bam (Candy Girls Dolly Mix)

The Candy Girls were one of the most prolific remixers of 90s clubland, this is the track that started it all off for them, and ended up being one of their biggest hits.
