MUNICH DJ and producer tINI is looking forward to getting the gang back together.
Having celebrated 10 years of tINI and the gang last year, a platform founded on Ibiza, it’s safe to say the magical island has been a big influence on her.
So has the infamous Ibizan club DC10 and its flagship party CircoLoco who’ve just released a new label, a collaboration with video game creator Rockstar Games with the goal of fusing the physical and digital worlds of entertainment to support and elevate dance music culture worldwide.
Monday Dreamin’, the label’s first full compilation album is out now. Featuring new tracks from tINI, Bedouin, Adam Beyer, Lost Souls Of Saturn & TOKiMONSTA, Tale Of Us and Damian Lazarus featuring Robert Owens, and many more, Monday Dreamin’ delivers 20 incredible tracks from visionaries and icons of every era of CircoLoco’s 20-year party history.
The Monday Dreamin’ compilation was preceded by 4 acclaimed EP’s, earning back-to-back awards of Essential New Tune from BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong for Seth Troxler’s Lumartes and DJ Tennis’ Atlanta, as well as strong DJ support across the spectrum, and a limited vinyl release of all 4 EP’s will follow in the coming weeks.
To mark the release of Monday Dreamin’ we asked tINI to talk us through a selection of big DC10 moments including her track What If, Then What? featuring Amiture from the new compilation. Click HEREfor more info. Listen and read what she had to say below.
Foremost Poets – Moonraker – 1998
“I first heard Moon-Raker in 2002/2003, which was pretty much my most important DC10 era. It was the summer that I discovered Ibiza. The song has absolutely catchy vocals that are unforgettable. Even today, people know the song and I even still play it sometimes.”
Chiapet – Westworld (Medieval Funk Mix) – 1999
“This is a timeless, classic song. I actually heard DJ Sneak playing it for the first time and it went off all over Ibiza. It has more of a dark groove with more minor melodies. It’s a little bit more mystic somehow. When I heard it for the first time I thought ‘wow, okay. it’s just one of those songs that will be burned into your memory.'”
Quasistereo – Accelerator (Chicks on Speed Rmx) – 2002
“Another huge hit. The remix is done by Chicks on Speed, who were super big back then. It also has super catchy vocals with a little bit of an electric vibe. It’s a pretty straightforward track, and there’s amazing energy in it. I wouldn’t play it today, but I love it still.”
Felix Da Housecat – What Does It Feel Like? (Royksopp Return To The Sun Mix) – 2002
“This is a case where the remix is actually more interesting than the original to me. I think it’s a perfect track. It has mesmerizing melodies, soft vocals, and a really intense bass line. It’s a very interesting mix overall.”
Paperclip People – The Climax – 2004
“Another timeless song. It’s very powerful and energetic and has a great melody. I like tracks that have something unexpected or special, and “The Climax” has that. Carl Craig sampled something from a funk and soul track for the foundation and recreated this whole new Detroit masterpiece out of it.”
Matthew Jonson – Behind The Mirror – 2004
“When I heard Behind the Mirror for the first time, I got goosebumps. I thought to myself ‘what is this? I need to find this song.’ Then I found it and discovered the other songs by Jonson. To me, he’s an absolute genius producer. I love him as a person and as a producer along with later with other projects that he did. ”
Underworld – Two Months Off – 2002
“This was a huge DC-10 hit. It has such a great vibe. It’s a very happy song and the dynamic and vocals are just incredible. It’s another one that gives me goosebumps and it brings back all the memories from that special time where I picked all these songs from.”
Ricardo Villalobos – Laser At Present – 2006
“Villalobos is of the most outstanding producers as well, and this track was an absolute DC-10 terrace hit. Songs like this were built for the terrace without a roof to me. “Laser At Present” is still in my shelf and playable in any set today.”
Audion – Mouth To Mouth – 2006
“This is a pretty intense song. It has this strong build up before it literally explodes. It’s a very loud track that builds up and then pours down on you. I remember people hearing this their first time and then losing their minds.”
tINI feat Amiture – What If, Then What? – 2021
“I had to put this in because after all the past songs and memories, I know that once Corona lets us party again and ibiza’s opening up, I will totally play this song at DC-10. It is for the CircoLoco compilation so that represents a vibe and emotion that I can’t wait to bring to the terrace, or the garden, or the club. This will hopefully be a future hit.”
