THE mysterious, masked DJ and producer Claptone continues to delight house music fans across the world while keeping his identity shrouded in secrecy.
He released second album, ‘Fantast’ at the beginning of this month. The album brings together a diverse group of collaborators such as Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke, Blaenavon, Tender, Jones, Zola Blood, Austra’s Katie Stelmanis, The Boxer Rebellion’s Nathan Nicholson, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Joan As Police Woman and Matt Simons. ‘Fantast’ demonstrates Claptone’s breadth of skill more so than debut album ‘Charmer’ which has scored over 60million streams and counting, but it’s in ‘Fantast’ that the mysterious masked man really delves deeper into the art of songwriting.
The long player was announced back in January with a global stunt called the Claptone Invasion we witnessed in London (click here) but which also landed in Sydney, Paris, Berlin and New York. For someone that remains an enigma the publicity machine behind him is one of the best in the electronic music business.
We caught up with Claptone for an exclusive video interview about the album and tried to find out a little bit more about the man behind the mask.
