HAILING from Budapest, Mario Domjan aka Collective Machine is one of Hungary’s most highly regarded electronic music producers.

His music can be found across a variety of the best labels, including Knee Deep In Sound, Elrow Music, Bedrock and his own label Collective Music, and in the sets of many of the world’s finest DJs, including Richie Hawtin, Marco Carola, Steve Lawler and Maya Jane Coles.

He releases his much- anticipated long player, Epoch, on Monday Social Music is out now and to mark the release we asked him to talk us through a selection of essential tracks from his DJ sets.

Listen to what he chose and read what he had to say about the music below.

Supernova ft Mikey V – About You (Extended Mix)

Nowadays I play more and more tracks from these guys, I really love the sound they represent. ”About you” is a typical first hour tune for me, or even a perfect starting track. It has a great feeling, a laid-back vocal and the synths and the dynamics are perfectly in balance.

Mustafa Ismaeel – Messing Around

The sub label of Crosstown Rebels’s ‘Rebellion’, is one of the labels that’s very close to my musical taste. I often find hidden gems amongst their releases. To be honest I didn’t have a clue who Mustafa Ismael was when I saw his name, but from now on I will keep an eye on him. It’s a mysterious one, which can work in every club.

Reboot – Acele

Reboot is an old favorite of mine, so I’m happy he is so productive these days. After playing his “Beating Bud” all year last year, I was glad when his new record on Snatch! came out. It has everything a cool house tune needs to have. A little speed garage bass punch, super groove and a well built arrangement, simply stunning!

Cebb, Delon – Versus One

I love those kinda tracks with a strong dynamic groove but still have a lot of emotions with themes and synths. Not a lot of drama, but it works. Cebb & Delon did a great job.

Franky Rizardo and Motion Sky – Everybody

Clean and balanced drums, classic tone bass and melody. When a groove or a top section is too complicated it can be frustrating and sometimes even boring, especially when you hear more than one in a row. But not this. It has exactly as much doubles as you need, perfect ratio. Well done!

Maxim Lany – Disruption (Robag Wruhme Vargula Troh NB Extended Remix)

For some reason I like to make a curve in my sets. Maybe because I fell in love with electronic music listening to the legendary classic mix series. There are ultimate shifter tracks, Robag Wruhme’s remix on Armada is one of them. You would not expect the set to calm down from here.

Andrea Oliva – Out And About

You know these grooves never go out of fashion. This is a perfect example. It’s so amazing, because even if you listen just to the groove for five minutes, you still enjoy it. It’s brilliant, the theme is an awesome sequence, it’s stepping between the octaves which complements the bassline. It can be pulled out anytime.

Simon Doty – Solaris

I think Simon Doty is one of the best producers at the moment. Anything he does is pure quality and professional. Killer groove and bass and yet in perfect harmony with the other elements. It has the mood I like to play during the last hours of a set.

Dee Montero – Light in the Dark (feat. Cari Golden) (Audiojack Remix)

For me this is probably the best music of 2021. There is no need to introduce Cari Golden’s wonderful voice. The original track was great too, but what the guys did with it is close to flawless or maybe it is. At the moment it’s an essential element at every rave.

Collective Machine  – My Way (feat. Syssy)

Last but not least is ’’My way’’ which is the lead single to my forthcoming album. An amazing music video also accompanies the track. I really would love to show you more, but the album is not out until 18th of February. The album is called “EPOCH” and has 13 original recordings, many of which will be staples in my sets.
