Mark Gwinnett is a journalist who has consistently operated at the intersection of mainstream media reach and underground dance music credibility. During his 13 year tenure at The Sun, working as a Senior Designer on the features team, he carved out a distinctive voice as a journalist covering club culture, DJs, and electronic music trends for one of the UK’s largest audiences, translating a fast-moving, often niche scene into stories with mass appeal. His work balanced access and authenticity: championing emerging talent while securing coverage of globally recognised artists, all delivered with an instinct for what resonates beyond the dancefloor.

Today, Mark brings that same editorial sharpness and cultural fluency to his work with Beatportal, the influential content platform of Beatport and a key authority within global electronic music. Here, his focus is deeper and more specialist, profiling artists, unpacking scenes, and producing content that speaks directly to engaged fans, industry insiders and tastemakers. His writing combines journalistic rigour with genuine scene knowledge, allowing him to create stories that feel both authoritative and connected.

This dual perspective, mainstream storytelling expertise paired with credible, insider-led dance music coverage, positions Mark as a uniquely effective partner for artists, labels and PR teams. Whether conducting interviews, crafting long-form features or developing editorial content via his own platform The Night Bazaar and on Beatportal, he delivers work that not only captures attention but builds lasting narrative value around the artists and music he covers.

Mark is also a respected DJ in his own right and produces music under his Lunacy Sound Division alias on the label he runs alongside critically acclaimed live electronic artist Saytek. Cubism Records was founded in 2008 and continues rocking dance floors to this day.
