ELIZA Noble and Jennifer Skillman are Eli & Fur: the British live act, singer-songwriter and producer duo whose career together stretches back for nearly a decade.
Found In The Wild, their long-awaited studio debut album is out now on seminal electronic imprint Anjunadeep. A dual part album concept, the long player shows two different sides to the Eli & Fur sound. They told us:
“Eli & Fur has been a musical journey that has always been open and unlimited. The inspiration behind “Found In The Wild” is the journey of finding that sound that we really feel defines us. We have drawn from that journey to get to where we are both musically and emotionally to put together a collection of tracks that really showcase the two sides of Eli & Fur. Not only does our music have two sides, but so do we. We want to bring the listener into those worlds, feelings they also feel. Not just on the dance floor but in their heads and in total solitude. We wanted to show both sides of us. We are quite varied in the way that we write music and so it made sense to have two parts living side by side. Everything we really love is on the album and we’re super proud of how it’s come together.”
The girls are currently planning a very special debut live stream to celebrate the release of the new album which will be happening later this month. They will be performing the album live.
We caught up with them this week and asked them to pick out some favourites from Found In The Wild and also share some of their musical inspirations.
Bruce Springsteen – I’m On Fire
Eli: I remember this being one of the fist tracks that really got me on a emotional level. I love the lyrics and chord progression. This track inspired me to want to write songs
Depeche Mode- Enjoy The Silence
Fur: I listened to this growing up, it’s what my mum would play. It’s always been an inspiration for me.
Eli & Fur – Wild Skies
Fur: A magical, dreamy song from our album Found In The Wild… this one came together so quickly ,it’s like the melody and lyrics just fell out of me.
Harry Keyworth featuring Holly Martin – Quiet now
We’ve known Holly for a long time. Her voice is angelic and she also features on our track “In Too Deep” from the album.
Eli & Fur – Carbon
We initially wrote this before the pandemic in LA, and then finished it for our album earlier this year. It’s dark but it’s hooky in the vocal, a balance we like to try and find with all our tracks.
Hollis P Monroe I’m Lonely (True Identity & Philip Young Love Queensday Remix)
Fur: Love this remix so much, it’s a track that always makes me feel how I felt the first time I heard it.
Eli & Fur – Broken Parts
One of our favourite tracks from our album – It’s about escaping, letting go and being in the moment.
Maya Jane Coles – Easier To Hide
Such an inspirational track, Maya has always put vocals and dance music together so perfectly and this track is one of our favourites. Something beautiful and emotional that you can also dance to.
Eli & Fur – Come Back Around
This is one of our standout tracks from the album, it just felt like it really had all the elements of the album in one track, with dark musical elements but still danceable.
Beautiful strings on this one, it’s a real masterpiece.
