GUY GERBER’S Rumors imprint continues to impress and next up on the Israeli DJ/producer’s well regarded label is more of the same quality we have come to expect over the years.

The new music released today comes from a core member of the Rumors family, Juan Yarin with his Lovefool EP. Juan’s last outing of emotive deep house on the label was last year’s Venice Beach EP.

Juan Yarin

Lovefool opens up with the spine tingling piano chords draped over soft, deep house drums. A tender vocal completes the most majestic groove.

Guy Gerber’s remix is a stylish tweak of the original with the piano chords left in place and the drums given a little extra bite. The whole thing sinks you into a reverie and makes for truly beautiful listening. Paradiso then picks up the pace with a more upright house sound this time with low slung bass and icy hi hats adding detail next to the elegant synth craft. Lina closes down with some heady, hypotonic house that is filled with late night atmosphere and swirling cosmic keys.

Juan says of the release:

“I’m proud to announce my new EP Lovefool will be out on 25th November. Lovefool has already been played by known artists such as Keinemusik at Burning Man 2022, and even The release will be promoted on a live European tour coming up soon.”

We caught up with Guy Gerber this week to mark the new release and asked him to compile and talk us through a playlist featuring ten of his favourite tracks from Rumors. Grab your copy of Juan Yarin’s Lovefool EP HERE.

Guy Gerber & Dixon – No Distance

The first release on the label and a very epic collaboration with Dixon, who I adore. The song is very emotional and was written in Rami’s from Bedouin studio in Brooklyn, and then I sent it to Dixon, and he came up with that great beat. It still works.

Guy Gerber & Puff Daddy – My Heart

From my project 11:11 with P.Diddy, I love the whole album that took a long time to complete. I wrote this album in Tel Aviv, NYC, and LA. Despite having such a big name as Diddy involved, I wanted something that was genuinely committed to the foundation of underground house music.

Juan Yarin – Lovefool

I love everything from Juan. He always sends me new music, but this one is definitely his best melody; a great song. I love the piano melody and the vocal stabs; very emotional and dreamy.

Guy Gerber – Rainchecks in Montreal

It’s my favorite work of mine. There are so many melody lines here, two guitars, a bass, a piano, and prophet five synthesizers.

Guy Gerber – What to Do

Written in Ibiza in 2018 in 45 minutes while sitting on my sofa with a small Juno 106 synth. I was very moody when the season ended; this melody described how I felt. It is probably my biggest hit, and that vocal sample summarizes how everybody has felt in the last decade.

Desire – Don’t Call (Guy Gerber Rework)

Another favorite of mine. It is a remake of my now very close friend, Megan, from desire. Someone who used to be my friend told me about this sample, and I made the whole thing while playing the synths line on the laptop keyboard on a flight. It really touches everybody who listens to it, especially because the lyrics hit hard.

Seth Troxler – Evangelion

I’m a big fan of Seth, and he is a long-time friend. I was just happy that he released that deep cut with us.

Guy Gerber – Pyramid of The Moon

I love guitars and spaghetti westerns. That’s what came out.

Chaim – Blue Shadow

It is one of Chaim’s best songs, timeless. When you listen to it, you think about summer in Ibiza.

Guy Gerber feat. Albertina – BOCAT

Written in London with Albertina, this one is all about the sexy raw vocal of Albertina, and the lyrics flow is fantastic. You should check what it actually means in Jamaican slang.
