IT’S no secret that Claptone is one of house music’s most popular DJ / Producers.
We have long been a fan of the masked house hero here and have spoken with him a number of times to find out more about the man behind the mask. Watch our exclusive video interview with him HERE from last summer as he released his second studio album Fantast.
We caught up with him again this week and he picked out ten huge tracks to get us excited as the summer season gets underway.
CLAPTONE’S SUMMER PLAYLIST
Purple Disco Machine – Bodywork (Claptone Remix)
Big club remix I produced for my friend Purple Disco Machine, because I love him and you and of course I love the vocal sample that he used. I can’t wait to play with him in Ibiza at my ‚The Masquerade‘ Residency in Pacha this summer. Sure does the trick.
Duke Dumont – Red Light, Green Light ft. Shaun Ross
What I dig about this new Duke Dumont jam is that it’s so very unexpected of him. This is one of the most outstanding club music productions recently and at the same time a guaranteed crowd pleaser.
Chilly Gonzales – I Am Europe (Djedjotronic Remix)
Almost a classic, like Europe itself. I started playing it again before the EU election to – besides playing the greatest tracks around ever – make a statement: I am Europe ! (but aren’t we all ?!)
Hott Like Detroit – That Thing
Hell of an artist name, hell of a track. Rocks as much as it’s hot and is hotter than hot hence the two ‚T‘ in the artist name. Pure party vibe.
Papa Marlin – So Long
Amongst all the remixes, classics, cover versions and sample orgies put out by the women and men of dance music today, this feels like a breath of fresh air. An original so strong, it could easily be one of the above mentioned, but it isn’t.
Claptone – Wildside ft. Matt Simons (Sidney Charles Remix)
One of my favourite songs off my recent album ‚Fantast‘ has been completely torn apart and reassembled for the dancefloors of the worlds by the great Sidney Charles.
Sonny Fodera – Back This Groove Up
Everything Sonny touches turns to gold. Maybe he did touch my mask after all … Anyway, here’s another new club weapon by Mr. Fodera. And – oh wonder – it’s all about the groove.
Mike Vale – Music Is the Answer (Original Mix)
Some people think it’s easy to have a hit record; just cover or remix a classic: That’s why there are so many weak attempts to create a calssic by (mis-)using one. Everyone has the balls to do it, but it needs a certain craft, a magic touch or a lottery win to be able to turn a classic into something even better than that very classic. Mike Vale pulled it off. So what is it for him?
Sammy Deuce – R U Down (Original Mix)
Dope Bassline, House Groove and a good break? I have always been a sucker for these three ingredients. Sammy makes me think of summer and Ibiza, of course.
Ferreck Dawn – You Are The One
This is the one. Defected always put out amazing House music. Here’s proof. This is going to be a huge track this year for sure, at least for me.
