WE hurtled through 2024 and I was so excited as we hit the ground running with The Night Bazaar in 2025, ending the year with unforgettable interviews, mixes and playlists with the likes Sven Väth, Laurent Garnier, Steve Kelley, Goom Gum, Luke Dean, Sinca, Sinisa Tamamovic and Elderbrook.
This promising start for The Night Bazaar, which continues as a column in print at The Sun newspaper every Friday in Something For The Weekend and online providing a myriad of content each week to Sun Music, came to a shuddering halt when I slipped and fell down the stairs in my home last weekend. Knocking myself out on the banister, I fell four steps to the floor, landing on my neck fracturing two vertebrae in my spine. I also almost sliced off my ear on glass from a drink I was carrying that shattered in the fall. A crazy freak accident running upstairs in my own home and I’m the person always telling the kids off for running up and down the stairs! Really does go to show how life can change in an instant and it can come from any direction.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to sit here and write this as over the last 10 days I have had time to really reflect on the worst outcomes that could have come from my accident and I’ve been to some dark places. I am lucky to not only be alive but to have full mobility. I’ve breathed more than a sigh of relief a number of times! I do have some pain and discomfort of course and the last week has been very difficult, but the positivity I am taking from avoiding catastrophic life changing injuries is overwhelming and certainly aiding my recovery. I feel like I have a second chance and I’m eager to be back working again and don’t want to waste any of my time. It’s still early days though so don’t know fully if I will emerge completely unscathed and I have to take things at a slower pace but by the spring I will be back to full power and feel very positive about the future and excited to be able to continue to develop The Night Bazaar even with this setback!

While I am here and as I recover, I wanted to reach out to you dear readers for support. The Night Bazaar is a self sufficient platform. As such I am working to build a sustainable business to support it for the future, ensuring opportunities for new music with the content I am able to keep publishing, supporting electronic dance music artists and the legacy of the culture via the platforms I have created at The Sun and The Night Bazaar.
There are some great ways already you can support The Night Bazaar by purchasing items from our Merchandise page and also music from our Cubism bandcamp page below. Your support would have a great impact especially at this time and be appreciated as I continue to develop the website content and support the music and culture that I live for.
Let’s keep dancing x
