CUBISM and The Night Bazaar boss Mark Gwinnett returns, masquerading under his Lunacy Sound Division alias as usual, but this time with a deeper excursion into electronic music than usual for his first original release of the year on his and Saytek’s beloved label with new track, Altruism.
Altruism may showcase a deeper side to Lunacy Sound Division, but it still retains the usual energetic, acidic characteristics that fans of LSD will be used to, as an infectious groove weaves forward, cheekily calling out Mark’s new neighbours who complained twice during the making of the track with nostalgic rave synth drops and soaring Detroit inspired 90s chords.
Altruism also nods to Mark’s determined work with The Night Bazaar and his unwavering desire to help spread underground electronic music to as many ears as possible via his ongoing media work, supporting new artists and positioning them alongside the best and most celebrated, established artists in electronic dance music.
On the remix we are excited to welcome Rhythm Cult boss Paul Loraine. A long-time friend and collaborator of Cubism and a man whose vision both musically and professionally closely aligns with the ethos behind Cubism and The Night Bazaar.
Paul is joined by a relatively newcomer to many but an artist who, supported heavily by Paul’s Rhythm Cult agency is set for big things, DCLVIII OFC. Emerging rapidly with releases on Brique Rouge, Metrohm, Selador, Rhythm Cult and Laurent Garnier’s COD3 QR, we are honoured to welcome him to Cubism with a fantastic remix in collaboration with Paul.
Paul and DCLVIII OFC have taken Altruism’s key rave elements and incorporated them into a spellbinding, hypnotic journey that captivates you from the very first beat to the very last and will transport any dance floor to rave heaven with the atmospheric bliss the duo bring to a perfect groove that underpins a beautiful melodic core.
