It is a great pleasure for us to welcome Sam Ball back to Cubism with a formidable two track EP.
Sam’s relationship with Cubism dates back to the very beginning of the label in 2007. Back then, Sam was riding high, not only following in Nic Fanciulli’s footsteps in Maidstone for Club Class as resident DJ alongside Nic, but also because of his very own sky-rocketing production career.
Being at the forefront of the scene with a 7-year residency for Club Class, he followed this by co-founding and running his notorious OFF KEY parties where he was also resident for 3 years. These raves are the stuff of dance music folklore in the garden of England, welcoming the likes of Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler to Maidstone in the early stages of their careers and legends such as Sasha, Carl Craig, Nick Curly, Terry Francis and Slam for unforgettable day time terrace parties between 2012 and 2015.
However, what went up eventually came crashing down and Sam found himself succumbing to all too familiar excesses associated with the club scene and he fell into a spiral of damaging addiction which meant he had to take an enforced, extended break from the music scene.
Fast forward to today and Sam is thankfully now almost 2 years into his recovery and his vibe has returned. Taking tentative steps into production early last year he has produced a number of amazing tracks and we at Cubism are excited to present two of these, Devil’s Dance and Resurrection. These are tunes are aimed firmly at the dance floor and are aptly named, heralding Sam’s return to releasing music again after beating his demons.
You can support the label directly by buying the tracks here first before their general release in 2021.
